Dr Alice Tang
BSc MBBS, FRACP, PhD
Dr. Alice Tang graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Science (Medicine), a Bachelor of Medicine, and a Bachelor of Surgery. She completed her advanced training in adult endocrinology at prominent institutions, including St George Hospital, Nepean Hospital, St Vincent’s Hospital, and the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. In 2013, she became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
During her time as a medical registrar, Dr. Tang was among the first doctors trained in Clinical Practice Improvement methodology by the Clinical Excellence Commission. She led a clinical audit to reduce hypoglycemic episodes in hospitalized diabetes patients, a project that was nominated for the NSW Health Innovation Award. This work also won the Nepean Blue Mountains LHD Quality Award and received recognition at the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Health Congress.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Tang has been active in medical education, serving as a Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney. She furthered her research by completing a PhD at the Garvan Institute and UNSW, focusing on obesity and insulin resistance. Her research analyzed the clinical characteristics of individuals with obesity who maintain an insulin-sensitive metabolic profile and tracked their health outcomes over time. For her PhD work, she received the UNSW Postgraduate Research Support Scheme Award and the Australian Postgraduate Award, and she presented her findings at numerous national and international conferences.
Dr. Tang is committed to staying at the forefront of endocrinology advancements, regularly attending national and international conferences. She is a member of the Endocrine Society of Australia and the Australian Diabetes Society.
Previously a Consultant Specialist at St Vincent’s Hospital, Dr. Tang now focuses on private practice. She is accredited at Mount Wilga Private Rehabilitation Hospital, where she provides specialized care for inpatients with complex endocrine disorders. Her clinical interests span a broad spectrum of endocrinology, including obesity, insulin resistance, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, thyroid disorders, and osteoporosis.
Dr. Tang believes in delivering personalized, evidence-based care, working closely with her patients to develop clear, tailored management plans. She emphasizes building strong rapport and fostering collaborative partnerships to achieve the best health outcomes.
Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Tang enjoys spending quality time with her family, gardening, and exploring her creativity through painting.
